4 Months

I'm a day late in posting Kroy's 4 month pictures, but we were extremely busy around the ranch yesterday (in my defense).  So, I'm doing it today!

Kroy has advanced so much in the last month its really unbelievable.  He has 2 bottom teeth now (which he got while in Texas...more about our Texas trip in the next post), and is a rolling machine!  He can roll over so well now.  He also pulls on everything exploring just how strong he is while seeing if he can get it in his mouth.  He recently started eating cereal in the mornings, and while he's still getting used to the texture, he's doing pretty well with it!  He also experienced his first little cold, which he is still getting over some.  Even when he wasn't feeling well at all he still managed a smile for us.

Kroy is such a happy baby.  He continues to wake up with a smile on his face no matter what and unless he is tired doesn't fuss much at all during the day.  He plays very well by himself, but also loves when Mommy & Daddy get down on the floor & play with him, too.  It brings us such joy to watch him grow & thrive like he is doing.  He has started to try and hold his bottle by himself to feed himself now, but eventually needs assistance from Mom & Dad to continue eating.   When on his tummy he is trying to start "army" crawling.  He pushes up onto the tips of his feet & tries to get his arms moving at the same time.  While he hasn't quite mastered it yet, I don't think we are far away from having a crawling baby on our hands!  He also loves to touch your face.  When he wakes up in the mornings, or wakes up from a nap he will softly touch my face as if to say "hello Mom".  It is so precious!  He has a little car walker that my Meemaw (his great-grandmother) gave him for Christmas and he really enjoys scooting around in that thing.  It keeps him pretty entertained when he's tired of being on the floor!

Kroy had a lot of firsts between his third and forth month of life, one big part was flying for the first time.  He did so extremely well on the flights from Montana to Texas.  We were so nervous but he did awesome!  He's also been in 3 different states now...Montana, Colorado, and Texas!  Pretty well traveled for a 4 month old I'd have to say!  He also got to see another baby for the first time...his cousin Kannon Jacob.  They had such a fun time together.  We can't wait to get together again with them so the boys can continue to grow and play together!

Here are a few pictures from Kroy at 4 months old.  He wasn't really having pictures that morning, but I took them anyway.  He was way more interested in the blanket, the chair, the sticker, and his toys than looking at me!  Nonetheless, I took them anyway!

Kroy's 3 Month Update

You read that right...our little boy is already 3 months old!  How does time go by so fast?  I was talking to my best friend the other day & she stated that her daughter was 17 months old the same day our little tyke turned 3 months old & that she wanted to stop time.  I'm in agreement with her...if I could slow down time I would!  Kroy is an absolute blast right now.  He is smiling, laughing, rolling over, and is a genuinely happy baby.  He really recognizes Wesley and I from across the room and when we come into the room will smile and look for us.  That melts our hearts!

Once again there are so many things I want to remember about Kroy at this age.  First off he is rolling over from tummy to back and from back to tummy...and he's only 3 months old!  I'm so SO proud that he is doing things ahead of time, and (selfishly) a little bit sad too...my baby is growing up!  He starts his day out with a smile every day and that is the best way to start my day too.  I couldn't think of a better way to wake up than beside the best husband and father and the cutest baby ever!  Kroy is sleeping through the night and started that about 2 weeks ago!  He's sleeping through the night, but it's still taking this Momma a little bit to adjust to our new schedule.  I still frequently check on him during the night just to make sure he's ok.  I'm one of those Moms and I'm not ashamed to admit it!  And just yesterday he started to laugh out loud.  Talk about something that will melt your heart!?!  We were at his Grandma & Grandpa's house yesterday & I got in his face & tickled his belly and he belly laughed out loud.  We were all crowded around him watching and listening as he laughed out loud for the first time!  He holds our hands as we feed him his bottle, and loves to be rocked at nap time.  He also loves music and will bounce and dance around any time music comes on.

Here are a few pictures of our precious baby boy!

Us Lately...

Here is a quick glimpse of our lives as of late.  Kroy is thoroughly enjoying his grandparents and I know they are enjoying him, too!  He's been with his Grandpa a few days this week because Wesley's needed my help and boy have they had fun together.  Grandpa took him to feed cows, coax heifers to the corral, move hay, and watch Gunsmoke and Maverick on the Western channel in the afternoon!  He's quite spoiled, but that's ok with us!

He absolutely lights up when his Daddy comes home from work.  His smile is contagious and his laugh lights up our entire home.  We love him so much!

Fun conversations with Grandpa!

Kroy - 2 Months Old

Kroy has changed daily in the last month.  I can't believe its already time for me to do a monthly post on him again!  He wakes up in the morning and starts his day with a smile.  It lights up all of our faces!  He is starting to be really interested in books that I read to him and loves playing on his play gym.  He does not enjoy taking naps.  In fact we call him our little "cat napper" because he doesn't sleep during the day for more than 45 minutes at a time (if I'm lucky)!  Sometimes in the afternoon I can get him to go down for an hour or so, but that's pushing it!

Kroy is currently eating 3 1/2 ounces every 3 hours or so.  There are nights where he will go for long stretches of sleep, but most nights he's up every 3 hours to eat.  A few nights here and there we have enjoyed 5-7 hour stretches and we relish them when we can.  But, I know the nights of him eating through the night are coming to a close end sooner rather than later so I don't mind getting up with him.  Plus, I sneak in a few extra snuggles during those wee morning hours!  We measured him the other day and he's a full 24 inches long now!  And he's definitely over 10 lbs.  His exact weight we aren't sure of yet but we will know next week when we go to the doctor for our well baby checkup!

A typical day with Kroy goes as follows:

6:00 am - wake and go to the living room with Daddy so Mommy can get an hour of sleep before starting the day (and boy that hour feels like 5 I'll tell you that!)

7:30-8:00 - eat breakfast

8:30 - 9:30 - play on play gym and have tummy time

9:30 - 11:00 - try to take a morning nap but mostly its spent trying to get him to stay asleep!

11:00 - 11:30 - eat lunch

12:00 - 12:15 - sit in bumbo to help gain neck muscle strength

12:30-1:30 - play with Daddy when he comes home for lunch

2:00 - 2:30 - eat

3:00 - 5:00 - try to take an afternoon nap but mostly its spent trying to get him to sleep and stay asleep!

5:00 - eat

5:30 - 6:30 - play gym time

6:30 - 7:00 - bath time which he loves!!

7:00 - 8:00 - read books and learn animal sounds

8:00 - eat last bottle before going down for the night!

Then he'll normally wake up a few times during the night to be changed and have a bottle.  He really is such a good baby.  We can't complain not one bit.

There are so many things about this stage in his life that I want to remember.  He smiles at me from across the room now and that just melts my heart.  He definitely knows who Mommy and Daddy are!  When I sing silly songs to him it makes his day and he will kick his legs and dance to the tune.  His smile just melts my heart.  He has started to hold my hand/arm when I'm feeding him his bottle.  When his little hand grabs mine and squeezes tight it is like no other feeling in the world.  He gets pretty excited when his Daddy comes home from work and picks him up and they play their "driving truck" game.  He wrinkles his little nose in delight when latching to his bottle to eat and he makes this adorably funny little birdie face while doing so.  He is now in size 1 diapers and absolutely hates to be wet!  He is currently still wearing size 0-3 month clothes and size 1 little shoes as well.  We believe he is in the very early stages of teething already :-( as he is starting to drool more, chew on his pacifier and bottle nipple, and there's a tiny little white spot on his bottom gum that looks like it might be a tooth trying to make its way to the surface.  So, we are preparing ourselves for the teething months ahead.

Kroy is incredibly strong.  He can hold his head up for extended periods of time before getting tired, and if you stand him up on your lap he will stand on his own weight for seconds at a time before getting tired.  He loves to bounce in your lap, be picked up above your head, have his little chin tickled, and read books.  He hates, however, to be alone in a room!  If I step out of his sight he has a come apart so we are working through his separation anxieties at the moment.  Oh well...it makes me feel special to be the one that can comfort him so I don't mind it.  One day he won't care if I'm in the room or not so for now I'll take it!

He still loves getting baths and will really get to splashing these days.  He gets the biggest smile when we wash his hair I think partly because it feels so good for him and partly because it tickles!  He is also very interested in his Laugh & Learn puppy that he got for Christmas from his Aunt Brittany & Uncle Tanner.  He can't push the buttons to make the puppy work just yet but he really enjoys the music when we push the buttons for him!

Here are some pictures of him on his 2 month birthday!

Goodbye 2014...Hello 2015!

Here it is a month since my last post and I can't believe we are starting a New Year already!  Wesley and I were blessed in so many ways during the past year.  2014 was definitely a grand year for the Davenports!

We started the year not quite sure where our fertility journey would lead us, and ended it with a beautiful, healthy, happy baby boy in our arms.  I'm not sure how it could have gotten any better!  Our ranching business produced another profitable year for us as well and we are so thankful for the blessings the Lord has given us in the form of our home, our son, our health, our family and our successful business.

We had a wonderful Christmas spent right here in Montana with Kroy's grandma & grandpa Davenport.  It started to snow Christmas Eve evening which was quite magical.  Wesley and I were up most of the night but not because of Kroy.  We were so darn excited for his first Christmas that we could hardly stand it.  He was an absolute trooper Christmas day too.  He made it through opening all of his Christmas gifts before he finally tuckered out right as we were finishing opening up ours.  He was awake for about 2 hours though, which was pretty good for a little tyke!  He fell asleep with grandpa holding his hand.  I made sure to get pictures of those priceless moments in his life!

New Years Eve was spent playing cards and enjoying snack foods at Grandma & Grandpa's house before bringing in the new year at home.  We were perfectly content spending New Year's Eve with our son as neither one of us are ready to leave him for an extended period just yet.

Every day that I look at my son I am amazed at the blessing he is to our lives.  He is the true definition of bliss, and innocence, and we love him with a love that is fierce.  He brings absolute joy to our daily lives and I am beyond blessed to be able to stay at home and share each of those days with him.

Wesley and I really didn't make any "New Year's Resolutions" as they are always broken or forgotten in a month.  Rather, we decided to make 2015 a healthier year for the both of us, for ourselves and for our son.  While we don't plan to diet because we feel dieting is just a way to gain weight back once you quit your diet, making healthy food choices is what we plan to do.  Lots of protein, fruits and veggies, and not so many carbs.  And hopefully with some exercise thrown in there I'll be able to shed the last few pounds of baby weight that I put on.  If not, I'm not too concerned.  I used to fear putting on weight, but I'm a Mom now and that is a badge I'll wear with honor and pride even if that badge comes in the form of a few extra pounds.  So what!

I'm not sure how 2015 could possibly top our 2014 but I'm definitely excited for the year to come.  We have so much to look forward to!  We are planning a trip south in the Spring to see family, and my parents will be coming up in August to see us again.  We have grown our business exponentially in 2014 and we can't wait to see what 2015 holds for our ranching!  We were blessed with our first nephew in April 2014 when little Kannon Jacob was born and we will be blessed with another niece or nephew come the middle of May when my sister-in-law Christi gives birth to their firstborn child.  Christmases will forever be a ball of fun on both sides of our families as Kroy will be roughly 6 months apart from both of his cousins!

And nothing in 2014 could top the birth of our son!  What a precious miracle he is to us!  Here's to looking forward to 2015 and all that it has in store for us!!

Kroy's First Month

I don't even like to think that our baby boy is already a month old.  But, somehow I don't have the ability to stop time and the days keep marching onward.  Kroy is a really good baby.  I'm sure most parents say that, and maybe it is cliché, but he truly is a good baby.  The only time he tries to fuss is when I am changing his diaper and he gets cold, or when he's wet.  He does not like being cold or wet!  Poor little guy!  He is sleeping about 3 1/2 hours a night which means about 2 feedings during the night and during the day is starting to be more & more alert.  He really enjoys the mornings with us, and in the afternoon normally takes his little naps between eating.  He's eating 3 1/2 ounces every 3 1/2 hours or so.  He currently weighs 9 lbs. 3 ounces and is 21 3/4 inches long.  He's gained over a pound and grown over an inch in his first month here with us!  That makes me both proud and a little sad at the same time.  My baby boy is growing up...and he's growing faster than I'd like to think about.

There are so many things I want to remember about him at this age.  He wakes every morning around 6 am and goes to the living room for his breakfast and to have one-on-one time with his Daddy while I catch a few more zzzz's.  I'm up by 7 and start our breakfast while Kroy and Daddy watch sports center and play on his play gym (if he isn't back asleep).  He absolutely loves his bouncer and takes most of his naps in there.  He also just started showing interest in his swing so we put him in there when he is restless and he watches the mobile and listens to the music.  He is starting to smile back at you when you make faces at him, which melts our hearts!  He does this adorable rooting/birdie/hungry face when he's looking for his pacifier or you're about to put the bottle in his mouth.  It is the cutest face I've ever seen!  He loves his play gym and in the evenings will lay and look up at the toys for upwards of 30 minutes at a time.  He has also started to try to grab for the toys on his play gym but can't quite get his hand coordination down just yet.  He enjoys tummy time but is such a strong little tyke that we really don't need a whole lot of tummy time for him because he constantly is working his neck muscles for us when we're holding him.  Bath time is a real treat for us because he has so much fun in the bath!  He kicks his little legs and coos at us.  It's truly a treat to see him with so much joy on his little face.  And while he loves taking a bath he absolutely hates getting lotion put on him afterwards.  He gets so upset when I put lotion on him but its because it makes him cold and he hates to be cold.  He is officially out of newborn clothes and in 0-3 month.  I've started to pack away some of his newborn clothes to make room for others and it breaks my heart to think that just a few short weeks ago he was that tiny :(  There are certain times during the day when he loves to snuggle with me.  Generally around 10:00 am he wants to cuddle for a bit, and again about 4 pm he likes to be held.  Other than that he is very content in his bouncer, swing, or on his play gym.  Every Sunday he and his Daddy watch football and generally fall asleep in the recliner.  I have some adorable pictures of Kroy sleeping on Wesley's chest and Wesley snoozing as well.  It makes me beam with pride just looking at the both of them!  While he doesn't have a set "schedule" yet because to be quite honest he's too little for one, he definitely has a bed time!  He likes to be swaddled and in his bassinet by around 8:30 or so and if he isn't he will definitely let you know!  He eats, gets changed, swaddled, and is in bed by about 8:30.  He also LOVES his Mommy Bear that his Aunt Brittany gave him.  He has to go to sleep with the womb sounds playing every night (and, now it puts Wesley and I to sleep too!).

Kroy's first Thanksgiving was so wonderful.  We spent Thanksgiving at his Grandma & Grandpa Davenport's house and our neighbor Gary came over to celebrate with us too.  When Grandma & Grandpa weren't arguing over who was going to hold Kroy (haha :)) we enjoyed good food, great desserts, and fun card playing.  I can't wait to see how his first Christmas goes because he's going to be with is cousin Kannon for Christmas.  It ought to be a grand time!

As soon as I get his 1 month pictures taken & uploaded I will be sure to share them.  He is changing so much already!
