Texas 2013

We are back from another wonderfully successful trip to the Lone Star State.  We flew in to Austin on the 27th of December and while my husband & father had drinks at a local restaurant & bar, my Mom and I got in some quality mother/daughter time at the mall.  We didn't get back to their house until later that night, and were so exhausted from being up at 3 AM to catch our flight out.  We got to see my grandparents, aunt & cousins while down there.  We also spent time with my sister & brother in law as well as my best friend Katy & her husband Jason and their new little one.

We relished in all that Texas had to offer including lots of Blue Bell Ice Cream, great Mexican food, and most importantly family & friends.  My parents made sure we had all our favorites stocked in their house when we arrived, and even completely re-did my old room to surprise us!  It was really nice and looks great too!

I got in as much Kaegan-holding time as I could before we had to come back to Big Sky Country, and spent quality time with my sister because in April they will be welcoming their baby boy and Christmases will no longer be the same.  Wesley had lots of laughs and good times with my Dad & neighbor Brian, along with Jason.  We are very blessed it worked out so nicely that not only do I get along with the friends Wesley had before I moved, but he gets along with my friends down in Texas too.  It makes things very easy & nice when we are home.

Saying good bye is never easy and we always hate to leave.  Its bittersweet for us to be returning home.  We love our family down there & miss them dearly when we're away but we are hoping to get back to Texas twice this year so it would be a little bit easier on everyone.

While our trip to Texas was good as the old saying goes "all good things must come to an end" because before we even left for Austin on the day we returned I received an email stating that our flight to Billings had been canceled (due to the weather - in the eastern US not in Colorado or Montana).  However, we had to get on our flight from Austin to Denver where we had a layover so that we could connect to the first flight to Billings from there.  We ended up spending TWO nights in Denver because our flights were canceled.  I came down with a really bad head cold & had no way of getting any sort of medication to help with the symptoms so on the second day of our canceled flights we used the airport as our pharmacy/grocery store & stocked up before heading back to our hotel.  We were lucky in the fact that we got a hotel right beside a quaint old fashioned diner.  The food was outstanding!  Although we were not happy about being "stuck" in Denver for 2 nights we know that there's a reason for everything.  I believe the first day was so that Wesley was able to catch up on his sleep.  Even while in Texas we weren't really able to do that and when my husband (who never takes naps) took a 2 hour nap at our hotel I knew he needed it.  The second day was for me to rest & try & get over my cold because that day I was the one who slept!  So, in the end it worked out nicely.

We were supposed to be home to Billings Friday by noon but with the delays we weren't home until Sunday afternoon.  We ended up getting back to the ranch about 6 pm Sunday evening, but were so glad to be home safely and to have enjoyed our trip!

We are definitely looking forward to our next trip back to Texas!
